General information, not legal advice
The guides, scenarios and practice pages on this website explain how Ontario law approaches common disputes, in general terms. They are not legal advice and are not a substitute for advice about your own situation. The outcome of any matter depends on its specific facts, the documents involved and the law at the time.
Scenarios are hypothetical
The scenarios in our Scenario Library are hypothetical. They are written to illustrate legal principles. They do not describe real clients or real cases, and any resemblance to an actual matter is coincidental.
No lawyer-client relationship
Using this website or contacting us does not create a lawyer-client relationship. We act for a client only after checking for conflicts of interest and confirming in writing that we will act. Until then, please do not send us confidential information. Information sent before that point may not be protected in the same way as communications with a client.
Time limits
Legal claims are subject to limitation periods and other deadlines, some of them short. Reading this website does not stop any deadline from running. If you think you may have a claim, or that a claim may be made against you, speak with a lawyer promptly.
